- Place both engines side by side and ensure that the head/s and block is an exact match before you begin removing parts
- Take the time to compare the different accessories and transfer over the parts that need to be swapped. Many parts including intake, exhaust, valve cover, engine mounts, brackets, oil pan and accessories will need to be transferred over from the original engine.
- May of these parts must be transferred to ensure proper function with your vehicle and compliance with your state emissions
- Change oil pan and pick up tube (they are a matched set)
- Replace front and rear main crankshaft seals
- Replace timing belt where applicable.
- Replace water pump and thermostat
- Replace all hoses and clamps associated with the cooling system
- Replace radiator and fill engine block with coolant as well as radiator
- (This will ensure coolant is on the backside of thermostat and will allow it to open)
- Replace spark plugs and wires
- Clear all computer diagnostic codes before starting the engine
- Bleed/purge the cooling system of all air and ensure that the thermostat is opening. You may need to top off the system several times before the coolant level is proper. Make sure the cooling system has proper flow before driving or leaving car on for an extended period of time
- Hand rotate crankshaft before installation and startup to ensure there are no interferences
- Let the engine warm up after first starting. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge. Ensure that fans come on when engine has reached operating temperature.
- Check for any leaks before taking car on a test drive. We recommend driving the car for 15-25 miles to make sure everything is properly functioning before completing the job.
